Here at UK Lifting Equipment, our aim is to have all you could possibly need for your lifting and hoisting jobs. Today we are going to shine the spotlight on our range of Duke lifting points. Within this category, you will find a variety of eye bolts and weld-on hooks.
What is a Lifting Point?
When it comes to lifting equipment, the lifting point refers to the connection point on a particular structure. Often referred to as lifting accessories, these are actually essential pieces of equipment as they are used to attach the load to the lifting equipment. Offering a link between the two, it is important to consider the load in order to determine the overall weight that can be taken. A lifting point may also be referred to as a bracket, and are permanent fixtures to the equipment to offer support rather than carrying out the lifting. For this reason, they are not registered or treated officially as lifting equipment, hence their categorisation as accessories.
Eye Bolts
In this section, we have a range of four different eye bolts or eye nuts. Both eye bolts and eye nuts are commonly known as lifting eyes within the industry, and we stock a high tensile lifting eye bolt, a high tensile lifting eye nut, a pivoting lifting eye bolt and a swivel lifting eye bolt with a ring. Those referred to as high tensile means that the metal is extremely strong when put under tension, offering a resistance to a very high weight. The high tensile lifting eye bolt is available in 11 different sizes, with the larger weights offering capacity to hoist a greater load. This is also the case for the high tensile lifting eye nut. Eye bolts are threaded to the structure and often supported by an eye nut. The swivel lifting eye bolts have the ability to swivel 360°, so they don’t lose capacity at any sling angle, whilst the former should not be used when applying angular loads as it could bend or break them. Similarly, those that pivot can pivot 180°.
Weld-on Hooks
When it comes to weld-on hooks, we have two options: the weld-on hook and the weld-on pivoting D-link with a spring. Weld-on hooks enable you to add fixed anchor points where you need them, made from treated alloy steel, and designed for axial loading. The former mentioned is the standard option and is available in five different sizes, including 2 tonnes, 3 tonnes, 5 tonnes, 8 tonnes, and 10 tonnes. The latter option refers to the D-shape, and the fact it can also pivot. It is available in the same sizes from 2-8 tonnes, but also has a 15 tonne option.
